Our accomplished and passionate development leadership team represents global expertise in over 400 global mountain projects, building over 10,000 units and famed West Coast and Rocky Mountain architecture and Master- planned alpine communities.

Ecosign:

Ecosign is widely known in the industry as the world’s leaders in the design of four season mountain destinations, having directed the planning and design of over 400 major mountain resort projects in 42 countries and 6 Winter Olympic venues over the last 44 years. Paul began work on Heaven’s Gate in 2011 and was responsible for overseeing the mountain feasibility study, mountain infrastructure design and the ongoing Master-planning.

Phil Boname:

Phil is likely the most experienced voice in real estate economics in Canada, with over 50 years of industry experience that includes extensive land economic analysis, urban planning, policy analysis and development management consulting. Phil’s research led him to a passionate conclusion, that Heaven’s Gate is indeed an extraordinary opportunity to build an international destination for education, innovation and recreation.

Bill Marshall:

Under Bill’s leadership, MTA has grown into a multidisciplinary firm featuring over 30 years of award winning designs in Western Canada with a focus on project work within the landscape of the dramatic Canadian Rocky Mountain communities. Bill’s project experience has allowed for the unique delivery of comprehensively planned communities, urban renewal and resort development plans. Bill’s passion is connecting people to the setting that has inspired the architecture by creating inspiring places that spark our creativity.

Jimmy Souza:

Jimmy spent the last 14 years overseeing all facets of a 350 acre golf course community east of Calgary, Alberta. His scope of work included working all land re-zonings, working with multiple engineering firms, golf course architect and overseeing all community infrastructure. Jimmy has a passion for people and creating authentic community. He has made lifelong friends with some of those families and he still enjoys a round of golf with community members.

Soren Hansen

Soren is a PGA tour professional, with over 60 top ten finishes on leader boards worldwide with 11 podium spots. Combining Soren’s merits as a professional golfer with his passion for improving the sport, Soren is now creating innovative ideas for golf clubs worldwide. His attention to detail and creative design will significantly increase both the playability and practicality of the game. Soren is excited to showcase this fresh vision for 21st century golf at Heaven’s Gate.

Craig MacLeod

Craig is a founding principal of Heaven’s Gate Fernie. Craig brings a passionate pioneering tenacity and the ability to bring together complex stakeholder interests and compatible team members for common vision and purpose. Craig's background includes private wealth portfolio management for 10 years with CIBC World Markets, helping fund sustainable new energy technologies and resort consulting since 2004. Craig first skied in Fernie 44 years ago and has had a love for Fernie ever since.

Mark Polet

Mark is a biologist with over 40 years of experience and has worked on environmental projects in 24 countries. Mark is passionate about bringing engineers, scientists, and business together to help people and planet flourish. Mark has a passion to mentor the next generation leaders.

Linda & Rick Fields

Linda’s background includes birthing and overseeing an entrepreneurial learning centre that created collaborative partnerships between education, industry and community. Over 150,000 participants were impacted over a course of 10 years. Her background also includes teaching university business courses for 30 years and starting businesses with her husband Rick. Since 2007, Linda has been passionately equipping existing and emerging leaders throughout the various spheres of influence in society.

Pamela Johnson

Pamela is a collaborative global business strategist, visionary, social entrepreneur and humanitarian. Pamela has served as a project director, board effectiveness leader and an executive business partner for global organizations both in the private and non-profit sectors. She has pioneered innovative programs and campaigns to better support the peoples, customers and communities in North America, the Caribbean and Africa. She has a passion for transforming organizations to identify and seize opportunities for alliances, partnerships and mergers.

Randy Gliege

Randy's life has been focused on lift installations worldwide. Past project highlights were Olympic Resort Development and Ropeway installation at Snowbasin Utah and much work at Blackcomb during the development years. Current projects include the first gondola project in Sri Lanka. Randy and his family have lived in Fernie for over thirty years.

Bruce Watt

Bruce has 35 years of experience in aviation culminating in the position of Captain on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner for WestJet. During his time there he spent 12 years as a training and checking pilot, responsible for teaching new pilots on the Boeing 737. He was also tasked with teaching ETOPS flying over the Pacific to Hawaii. The last 6 years of his tenure was spent flying to London, Dublin, Paris and Barcelona. He believes that this fits in perfectly with his desire of bringing people from all over the world to the doorstep of Heaven’s Gate Fernie.
